Archimedes was most famous for his accidental discovery that led him to propose the theory of buoyancy; popular tradition has it that Archimedes made the discovery when he stepped into the bathtub, then celebrated by running through the streets shouting “Eureka!” (“I have found it!”). He also worked out the principle of levers, developed a method for expressing large numbers, discovered ways to determine the areas and volumes of solids, calculated an approximation of pi and invented a machine for raising water called Archimedes’ screw. This ingenious invention has been incorporated into both the logo and graphic expression of the new Imenco identity. His pioneering research and development has clear and strong parallels to Imenco, a company that strive to set standards in the global maritime industry.
